On 8th Feb, Life and Death will be teaming up with Sónar festival to bring a diverse line-up of artists at the cutting edge of dance music to a special event at the unique Brooklyn venue, Avant Gardner.
A pioneering European festival, started in 1994, Sónar is renowned for its unique format and musical program that showcases the latest trends in dance and electronica as well as those artists pushing the limits of musical expression. Since 2002, Sónar has held events in 65 cities across the globe, and currently celebrates annual editions in Barcelona, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Reykjavik and Mexico City.
Life and Death, the electronic music label founded in 2010 by DJ Tennis, stands at the forefront of contemporary, underground dance music. Releasing records varied in tone and texture, the label also purveys its ever evolving sound via their worldwide event showcases. Ranging from hillside outposts, overlooking Israel’s Dead Sea, to Spanish Colonial mansions, to hedonistic circuses in Amsterdam, the desire to challenge the status quo remains at the core of the Life and Death ethos.
The first wave of artists announced for this unique joint event in NYC balances a select roster of DJs, with a carefully curated group of Live A/V acts, many of which have played at Sónar events around the world. Also taking part are Life and Death signees, Red Axes, while artists like Call Super and Daedelus make their Life and Death debut.
Sónar festival and the Italian label have been given Carte Blanche to reimagine the Brooklyn venue – Avant Gardner will appear as it never has before, and will be adorned with lively installations, design works and more across three expansive floors and two exterior tents.
